Sir tommyfr  sorry for the late posts of the letters, i had a hard time going online since i was working, enjoy!

JESON ENTER’S HIS FIRST QUARTERFINALS IN SINGLES SINCE TURNING PRO

Dear Congressman and Everybody,

Jeson barges into the quarterfinals of singles here in the Thailand men’s Pro Futures after defeating Thai player Warit 6-0, 6-4 and will play the no.3 seed Rochet from France tomorrow. This is the 1st time Jeson reached this far in singles in the Pro level and I believe this will be the psychological push he need’s to keep developing and improving his game. With this victory today Jeson earned another 2 ATP points which will add up to the 7 points he has already accumulated and will definitely push his world ranking.

For so many tournaments before, Jeson was always on the verge of winning and getting into the quarters but somehow he was not able to capitalize on his chances against the men’s. But now it is a different story and the kid is learning in every circuit we have competed in. Jeson is starting to mature mentally and he is picking up so many things here in the men’s Pro circuit. He is adapting and learning how the men’s players play and handle various situations on and off the court. But again Jeson is still young at 18 years old and he has not even reached his full mental and physical growth yet. Jeson is improving in every department of his game through a lot of competitions, hard work, training and coaching. With these continued improvements he will definitely go very far in his Pro career.

His transformation and belief in himself started in the Davis Cup last Sept. against Chinese Taipei when he beat Jimmy Wang a former top 80 ATP player and the no.2 seed in this tournament in Thailand. Jimmy Wang also made it to the finals of the Korean Challenger 2 weeks ago defeating Udomchoke, Ito of Japan, Yang of Taipei and a European player all in the top 100 plus in the world all in straight sets before losing to his teammate Lu the top seed ranked no.60 in the ATP 64, 7-6.

After that win with Wang, Jeson came up with another big win last week this time against 6 foot five Jun Woo of Korea the singles semifinalist in the Laos men’s Futures last week and a quarterfinalist in the Korean Challenger 2 weeks ago. Jun a former top 200 ATP player and a member of the Korean Davis Cup Team was also ranked no. 4 in the ITF World Juniors. Jeson also reached his first semifinals in doubles with partner Dennis Lajola of the US defeating the no. 2 seeds Rochette and Jankovits of France who was the singles finalist in the 1st leg of Thailand. All of these wins are contributing greatly to Jeson’s confidence which is the key ingredient for any player to succeed in the Pros.

In the doubles quarterfinals today Jeson and his partner Dennis Lajola of the US lost to Jankovits and his partner Fermin both from France 3-6, 6-1, (10-7). It was a very tight match but the French team came up with the big shots at the most crucial stages of the match to secure the win after Jeson and Dennis led 7-5 in the super tie-break.

Got to go for now and until next time God bless to all

Yours truly,
Coach Manny Tecson

GRUELING QUARTERFINAL MATCH TODAY HERE THAILAND FUTURES

Dear Congressman and Everybody,

Jeson has been improving consistently here in the Asian Pro Circuits and all the hard work, training and coaching for the past 3 weeks has been paying off. Jeson lost a grueling and tough quarterfinal match to the no.3 seed Rochette from France a top 200 ATP player just this year and a player who had victories against top 100 players in the Grand Slams 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 3 hours.

In the first set Jeson was just playing flawless tennis and was aggressive in all departments of his game. I told him earlier the French player is just rock solid from the baseline and we cannot just rally with him and wait for him to commit errors. Our plan was to get the French player out of his comfort zone by pressing the attack immediately and it caught the French player by surprise which worked like a charm. You could see that Jeson really has what it takes and the talent to compete with these Pros because this French player is no push over and is very solid in all departments of his game, but in the 1st set Jeson just blew him away.

In the second set the French player was just angry and mad and I warned Jeson earlier that when his opponent is in trouble he becomes more aggressive. This is what happened in the second set, Jeson became defensive and the French player became more aggressive in his shots to force Jeson in awkward positons which was not what we have planned earlier.

In the third set it became a battle and Jeson held his serve after 15 deuces. Jeson immediately capitalized and broke his opponent for a 2-0 lead after ten deuces. Both players mental strength was being tested and Jeson is standing his ground. But in the next game the French came back strong to break Jeson again after 7 deuces. The next few games all went to deuces and there where no easy games for both players. At times the crucial factor was the calls of the referee and the line judges. Unfortunately Jeson came out at the loosing end of some very tight calls that could have swing the match in his favor. The French player immediately jumped to a 5-2 lead before Jeson broke his opponent in the 8th game to put the score at 5-3 with Jeson serving. Jeson was up 30-0 on his serve and is threatening for a come back, but the French player came up with some big passing shots on the run which was the turning point of the match. Jeson lost a tough fight today but he is getting better and stronger in each match he plays. Now he knows and feels that anytime he has what it takes to beat these top players and he can win big.

Our team will be heading back to Manila tomorrow, while Jeson will be flying straight to Palembang to join his SEA Games team members. Jeson will be arriving at Palembang Indonesia on Nov. 12, 2011 6:55 AM and will have time to hit and practice on the courts of Palembang before the team competion starts on Nov. 13.

With Jeson’s first quarterfinal finish in singles he will move up to about 950 in the ATP rankings this year with his 9 ATP points, while Marc would be in the top 1400’s. It has been a great start for us in the Pros after finishing top 10 in the world in juniors and next year we will start competing full time in the Men’s Futures combined with some ATP Challengers to keep building our world ranking and to hopefully one day be able to compete in the Men’s Grand Slams.

It’s a big dream for any Filipino especially home grown to think about playing in the Men’s Singles Grand Slams someday, but playing in the Pro Circuit and being ranked in the ATP is already a dream for so many aspiring tennis Pros in the world. We just have to keep believing and working hard to keep this dream alive. To show the world that tennis is a sport where we Pinoys can excel with the best.

Until next time God bless to all.

Yours truly,
Coach Manny Tecson

Hi Cypher,

thanks for this report from October/november i guess.

As for 2012, can we have an update on the tournaments schedule. Will there be an US string again this summer? What will be his first tournaments for the year. Will Mark and Lajola travel with them?

And we want match analyzis and observations and learnings from the tour also this year!
