Naku Dasmaboy and Cypher. Wag nyo ng pagusapan beginnings ng Team Congressman. Baka lumabas.
santeb i think you know better than i do, how team congressman start. Please enlighten me.. Is this TAPF history? cypher, Team Congressman starts? I have no idea how it's started because I'm been out of the country for almost 20 yrs. but as far as I know, It was coach Rocky Paglalunan started it. Our national players used to practice with the juniors of coach Rocky. It was Rocky's big mistakes when he asked Manny's help to run the program.

btw jeson wasn't "discovered", he was already a fine player then and Rocky has some part in that, but of course kudos pa rin kay cypher for bringing him to another level...but jeson was good because of other mentors as well...

rocky??? Jeson is Jeson because of Manny Tecson. Jeson was nothing if it weren't for Coach Tecson. Nagwalling lang yan ng lapad ng Tanduay. Ballboy or trainer lang bagsak niyan! Ngayon, mas maganda ang kinabukasan niyan dahil sa TAPF. Si Cong ang nakiusap kay Tecson.

Hi to Everybody here at PTO,
I have been reading all your comments and opinions and its sad to say that a lot of guys here in this forum are assuming that this CYPHER and DASMABOY is the same person which is Coach Manny Tecson, I know Coach Manny personally and is very close to me, its sad to read that people here are talking about my Coach and that coach does not even know about this. As his assistant Coach in TAPF i am surprised by the comments of people here, out of due respect to everyone, dont assume that you guys know the whole story because even a lot of people are asking me what happened.
To Santeb I believe if you fully know Coach Manny, You should know that Mr, Hilado, Tito Jean Henri Lhuillier, Tito Romy Chan are good friends with Coach, Even Cong Edwin Olivarez is his kumpare and kababata and by the way Tito Jean's wife is also coach manny's kumare. Burning Bridges is not a good term on this and it wasnt TAPF who approached AJ Lim. Mr. Lim actually called Coach Manny before the Orange Bowl and asked if Aj can join the training. Also Coach asked Mr. Lim if they have an existing contract with PTA out of courtesy, Coach Manny also asked them if they parted ways with PTA in good faith. Coach did not promise them anything and just told them he will refer everything to the congressman. After the Orange Bowl Mr. Lim again called Coach Manny to ask about AJ being part of the team, which Mr. Lim assured Coach and I that they left PTA in good terms and that it was their decision to go with TAPF. To tell you honestly we were working side by side with PTA at ayala alabang and that PTA sponsors and coaches are very good friends with us, they even asked if the kids of PTA can hit with Jeson and Marc during warmups, which we welcomed without hesitation, i remember Jurence and Jeson were hitting with each other and Aj and Marc on the other side. We are not competing but working individually to achieve our goals.
To SLP888 I believe you and Coach Manny are still very good friends because you were once his player in the Davis Cup and he is very proud of you, and never said anything bad about you, only good words when he talks about his team.
With regards to the issue about Rocky Paglalunan, I was actually at training at Southwoods when the people of Congressman Romeo Jalosjos went to Southwoods looking for Coach Manny, Unfortunately that time it was our lunch break and Coach was still out,and so i told them to comeback after lunch so that they can talk to Coach, During that time Coach Manny spoke to the people of Congressman and told them that he is still with Fil Estate but he will take in to consideration what TAPF is offering him. Coach never applied for the job and Rocky never asked Coach Manny's help, but it was the congressman himself who offered the position of Executive Vice President to Coach Manny to give guidance and knowledge to the direction of TAPF which was published in the news papers. So after a few meetings Coach Manny was appointed by the Congressman as the Executive VP of TAPF.
I was there during the meeting when Coach told all the players and coaching staff the new direction of TAPF and he still appointed Rocky Paglalunan as the HEAD COACH of TAPF plus added bonuses. Coach just wanted the coaching staff to adjust and start thinking internationally. Rocky resented the idea and change, i also remember Rocky was being rude during the meeting and was even yawning while we were discussing matters, But coach was very patient with him and was defending rocky to all of us to give rocky more time to adjust, but unfortunately rocky went straight to the congressman and blurted out his feelings towards the new path that TAPF will be taking. The congressman told rocky that if you cannot adjust or accept the new system then it is his decision if he wants to stay or leave, Coach even approached the congressman and told the chairman that he will try his best to convince rocky the benefits of the changes in the system, but rocky was not willing, to a point he was challenging the decision of the chairman and the other officers of TAPF. This was the last straw and the Congressman not Coach Manny decided to let go of rocky.
Sir SLP888 or Sir Camoy i hope this clarifies a lot of your queries regarding TAPF. I've known Coach Manny for a long time and he has helped a lot of top players here in the Philippines who became Davis Cup players, Fed Cup players, National players etc.. including me personally when i was struggling as a player.. and he never asked anything in return. Sir Camoy you have known Coach for a long time as your Captain in the Davis Cup and as far as i know he took a big risk in fielding you as a rookie player in the crucial doubles against China where Coach took a lot of heat and criticism because of that decision instead of fielding the time tested tandem of Barrientos and Roland So and coach never backed down because he believed in you and until now he's very proud of you and even talks about the old times to his new players.
Thats my 2 cents.

Bickering, innuendo, insinuation, dissention, resentment, an underlying current of animosity and, overall, a seemingly nonsensical pissing contest among the country’s tennis cognoscenti does not help matters.
Until we can populate the ATP pro ranks with homegrown talent, I think we should hold off on the Who’s Who contest of Philippine tennis development and coalesce toward the common goal of developing such talents, and leave the egos at home.

I'm sorry I don't know you and I know the top players and coaches here in the Philippines. It wasn't China where he fielded Palahang controversially, that was against Sweden. If you are in the know of Philippine tennis, you have got to know that everyone knows each other at the top and the people at the top specially the tennis players know each other well. This propaganda of yours will not work with those in the know. It will be better for you to control those whom you can. Just tell them not to start talking trash about PTA and the people involved with the group.

To Laurence,
I think your well written piece of info on the background and present developments were excellent.
To Santeb, i think your constant complaints of people here "bashing" and "trashing" PTA is very much out of line. No one have done that. And I think over-sensitive writings like that just get opposite effect if you want to protect and upheld that positive and important organisation.
Pytda is what is called a 'forum troll', moving around treads, with insuniations and bad mouting trying to create drama and conflict where there is none...

Tommyfr, you will find out what I mean when I say people in the know, know and are close to each other, if you will be involved in competitive tennis here, be it coaching or playing. As for you to tell us what bashing is and that you and cypher did not bash PTA, I guess we have different ideas about what putting down a person or organization is. You seem to think highly of yourself, you will find out it's not that easy to be thought of highly in this parts, specially in tennis. We will see how much Philippine tennis will benefit from you. Jurence has left PTA and went back to his former coach, Martin Misa. I hope PTA will be successful with their grassroots program which they intend to do nationally.

Santeb, pasensya ka na kay tommyfr, he is a frustrated trainer from Bacolod, who like to live his life through Cypher, probably the closes thing he'll be in elite tennis,...he is a troll too in flipflopping issues, so really there is no difference between him and a troll...he loves controversies as well as i remember he did bash Tuan, too.... ...he is what we call in our culture ..balimbing...

I believe tommyfr is highly knowledgeable in tennis as an expat who has been here a long time told me. The problem is, he is new in the Philippines and does not fully understand our culture yet, specially the tennis culture. Those who have been in tennis for a long time will know not to say anything negative about the PTA because the group is composed of personalities who have been contributing to the benefit of Philippine tennis for decades. Those on top of Philippine tennis will just not do it. Then to say that it is easy to choose the captain and his choice, whom he has known for maybe less than a year, whom I've known for at least 3 decades and whom SLP had an adjoining room with in his previous stint as DC captain. C'mon. Warm-up to Philippine tennis first. Don't start serve and volleying right away. As to my point where I'm saying let's see what you will do for Philippine tennis, the group has a term for those who are just good in talking. We call them yak yak.

Folks, all due respect...
Which part of "off-topic" is unclear? Let's respect what Admin_Jong has already hinted on.
For the love of God, please start a new thread under the appropriate heading where we all can appropriately comment on the appropriate topic.
