For those who remember the great 80s player Miloslav Mecir, I wonder if you know any player today with the same style.

Nicknamed 'Big Cat', Mecir moved gracefully and seemingly without effort.  He was a counter-puncher that pulled the trigger at often-unexpected moments.

Here's Mecir upsetting Lendl.  I miss watching his style, he makes tennis look easy:

thanks for posting the video.
i can't believe how great he can control the ball and it's even confusing sometimes wether he will hit hard or soft or down the line backhand or crosscourt. We sure can learn a lot from him.

His strokes are similar to WTA player Pironkova and Andy Murray (with less power). He won't win matches in today's game... tennis now is all about power.

In a way it's sad that most if not all of today's strategy is based on power.   It really makes most of today's tennis boring to watch for many, especially for the majority of the population with limited opportunity to appreciate the intricacies of shotmaking, except in the case of legends like Federer where artistry is up there with power for the lay person to appreciate.  It's good that players like Mecir, Hingis, Hewitt, have graced the sport to show that smarts can win over brawn.  I hope such era makes a comeback in tennis.
