hello PTO'ers,
yesterday i was hitting at Meralco in Ortigas and spoke with one of the ballboys there. his name is "Poli".
Poli is a handicapped person (he has a limp on his right leg which is signifcantly smaller, i think due to polio from his childhood).
He is probably in his late 30s and he said he has been a ball boy at Meralco for 10+ yrs now.
Poli was asking if I or someone I know had a used racquet that he can have.
He does not have a racquet and did not look like he can afford one. He will probably use the racquet to earn a living as a trainer.
If anyone here can spare a decent condition tennis racquet (any brand, any model) for a less fortunate brother, please let me know. I can meet you anywhere in Metro Manila to receive the racquet and give it to Poli. You can also go directly to Meralco if you happen to play there.
The guy looked sincere in his appeal. He picked balls for my playing session yesterday. I promised to relay his request to my online tennis friends here.

I probably saw him there before. In any case he probably broke his racket. Paging PTO members who have a spare racket kindly donate it to Poli.  His story is very common in tennis clubs in our country. Lets help him. |
