anyone having any idea as to why Jeson is not playing?

It would have been really good and interesting if he did. He would have a good chance to win, although i would not be surprised if J Arcilla would win over him, incl the pricemoney. He would have earned more than the bucks he has earned at the Futures.
I don't understand.

Pytda, no I dont know the reason.
I dont also know what is possum, but i hope yo improve from some of your previous posts (hinting you are insider and use degrading adjectives)

Anyway, I can think of a couple of reasons: He prefer to play some futures that can give him important ranking points, or he is invited to a tennis academy or similar, a big chance for further improvement.

He also could be sick or injured. Or....he/or his coach/or the sponsor is afraid of him meeting the best locals, afraid of possible losing to them, and somehow lose prestige or reputation?
Maybe something else even....

From what I heard, Jeson and Coach Manny was supposed to join PCA but due to the sponsor's request they had to comply with Congressman R. Jalosjos request to appear in a upcoming event coinciding with PCA, I don't think Jeson and Coach Manny are afraid of playing the PCA and competing with the local talents.. Besides PCA will always be there, but the CHANCE to play ATP events will not, because if you don't have a sponsor to finance everything then there will be no future in the ATP no more career. I believe you all have to agree on this, a few years back Marc Reyes who is also a player of Coach Manny became the finalist of PCA straight from Italy, he beat a lot of the local talents and got beaten only by Johnny Arcilla. But recently in the Mens Futures in Laos Marc Lost in the first round of qualifying, that includes a lot of training and coaching, his highest win is reaching the round of 16 in all his tournaments this year, while Jeson reached his first Quarterfinals in a mens futures in Thailand the only player to beat jeson is Rochette from France who eventually became the winner of the mens futures, beating Jimmy Wang in the finals in straight sets, from what I heard Jeson was the only one who put up a fight against the frenchman, 6-0 2-6 3-6. After Jeson's loss Rochette flattened out the competition in straight sets, so there's no comparison to playing mens futures than the PCA, logically thinking for me.. why would I join the PCA if I got a whole career in the ATP ahead of me why would it be so important to join a local tournament when I can prepare for something much bigger, price money  is out of the question, earning in the atp is much better than the PCA.. You can earn millions of dollars in the ATP, while PCA gives you a meager  100,000pesos.. Cmon guys think about it.. And try to disagree with me if what I'm saying is not true.. And for the record, to those who think that they are scared of losing to the local talents? Why would they be scared they are local talents as well..right? And to think that they would be scared is crap, (sorry for the language) these guys have been in the international scene for almost 25 weeks, and they are probably the best bet we got for davis cup.after that loss, it escapes me.. Trully devastating, let's be positive here they must have something up the sleeve next year, I can't seem to wait..

I'm sure Jesson and co. are not afraid to pit skills against the locals. Ang sakin lang yung PCA Open is considered as the most premier tennis event in Philippines (Wimbledon nga daw ng mga Pinoys sabi ng iba ). Parang di lang maganda ng na iboboycott siya nung Top 5 players natin... ni wala man lang sa kanilang lima naglaro in either singles or doubles.

Hi Cypher,

do you know what tournament Jeson is supposed to play this time. I checked the entrylist of ongoing and upcoming ITF futures tournaments in India, Mexico, Turkey, and could not find his name.

As for prize money, I think p100.000 is substantial. Of course it is small compared to top ATP players but for a players ranked in the 900s like Jeson, that should be quite a lot.

And do you know more about his plans for 2012 and what they are doing to improve skills and results?

As I have heard Jeson, Marc and coach were all ready and set to join the PCA but the request of the Congressman for them to be in Dakak for his birthday and for coach to conduct a free clinic to deserving less fortunate players was more of a priority since the request came from the Congressman himself who sponsors all their trips. Lawrence who is friend of mine and who works with the Foundation said unfortunately the trip had to be cancelled at the last minute since coach Manny was rushed to the hospital and was immediately placed in ICU. Coach had angioplasty to remove a clot on his main heart artery and thank God the surgery was a success. Coach now is in full recovery and he will be ready again by Jan. next year as Lawrence told me. The price you have to pay for giving your heart out to others and the stress of coaching had taken its toll on coach but again as if nothing has happened to him and they will play the 3 legs in Israel this coming Jan. and prepare for the Davis Cup in Iriga.

Guys we are forgetting something here, Jeson is only 18 years old and is now ranked 930 in the ATP with the guidance of coach Manny. He has reached the quarters of Thailand Futures for the 1st time this year loosing only to the champion in 3 sets and he is not even full time yet in his campaign in the Pros since he was still playing in the juniors half of this year. Jeson has beaten Jimmy Wang in the Davis Cup this year and Wang reached the finals of a challenger in Korea and the finals of Thailand just recently, in the 1st leg of Thailand Jeson had a good win defeating Jun Woo a regular member of the Korean Davis Cup team and a former top 200 ATP player. I believe coach has taught Jeson to think beyond the local tournaments and prove himself in international competitions to give honor to the country which I remember back then when I was his player, coach always emphasized the value of this.

For them it is not about the money that they can win in PCA or having the title of being a PCA Open mens champion which doesn't guarantee your success in the International Tour. I believe they are chasing a dream to be the best Filipino ranked in the ATP. A good example is Marc Reyes who is also a player of coach and was a finalist in PCA 2 years ago. Marc at times looses in the 1st round of the qualifying of these Men's Futures which goes to show the difference of the level and toughness of the competition abroad. But Marc chose to play more of these tough tournaments to keep improving himself and be the best player he can be. I remember Felix Barrientos never even won PCA but became one of the best Filipino Davis Cup players the Philippines has ever produced due to his vast experience in the Int. Tour.

By the way Lawrence also mentioned coach wanted to give more opportunities to deserving Filipino tennis players and he mentioned this while he was in the hospital. He said he got the approval of the Chairman to get new players and the Foundation will be accepting new scholars by next year. Scholars will have a height requirement which was the only request of the chairman before approval as Lawrence said.

si jeson masasapawan niyan si felix barrientos. Just a matter of time lang niyan.

Hi Cypher,

Is it possible you can publish again this year the tournament reports and match analysis from the Coach, on Marks and Jeson's activities abroad. That was truly fantastic from last year.

It has been quiet after the US summer tour. I am also interested what they are doing now, any new advancements, technical improvements, focus areas, practice methods?

I think these articles/blogs can inspire also other coaches , parents, players...ie help the local tennis culture.

Sir SLP888 i believe there was a disclaimer that went about the PTO forum that coach manny emailed the ADMIN of this forum that he and Dasma Boy are not the same person and neither me and dasma boy are the same person as well. i am a former player of coach manny and i receive his updates evrytime im just a regular player like everyone else except the legends ^_^

To everyone waiting for the posts, ill keep you informed on whats happening to them. sorry i couldnt go online before coz i went on vacation i receive coach manny's letters about laos and the @ thailand futures they joined and jeson reached the quarterfinals, it was his first time and the only player to beat jeson is the player that beat him before Rochette and who is also the eventual champion of the leg.

ill try to post them as soon as i can..

thanks and keep posting!

Sir Pytda

i think for now jurence is not yet there in comparison to Jeson.. As i have seen Jeson Patrombon play recently, The experience is a plus factor, he should try to get into the Finals of G1 Mitsubishi International Juniors to match to Jeson, and maybe in the future who knows, the kid has potential. no doubt. But just this afternoon i heard from a source of mine he barely survived Ralph Barte in the PCA shell courts, 3rd Set both players are already Cramping but as i have said he has potential. Its up to his handlers to make him more fit and ready for the grueling career in tennis.

Yup per PCA Website Jurence won a 3-setter over Tierro. Good win and great effort to reach the finals. Although, Tierro is not in the same form he was when he reach Top 700 in the world.

It wil be an interesting final... Johnny's experience will probably give him a straight set win especially in a slow shell court.

2011 PCA Champions....

Capadocia beat Patrimonio 2-6;6-0;6-3 (Patrimonio's loss is her own owndoing, she played horrendous tennis after winning the first set. Also her on-court behavior is so so junior).

Arcilla beat Mendoza 6-1;6-0;6-4 (I was really expecting this lopsided scoreline... Mendoza showed promise but Arcilla's experience is just too much).

napagod din si johnny, i thought he was cramping at the end of the 3rd set.

Another chance, pero na deuce pa ni JA and he held serve. then, next game. it's history na

If you are as good as your claims, you should be unbeatable locally.

Jeson started out late. Nino was also a semifinalist at 15 or 16 but has so-so singles results after that. It's up to Jurence and his handlers on how he will develop as a world class player. It's actually the performance after the juniors is what really counts.

di naman siguro sisikat si nino, jeson o jurence kung di maganda performance nila sa junior tournaments! di rin makikita ng mga coaches ung kanilang potentials with the junior tourneys, it will hone their talent to become one great player and earn big bucks sa futures/ pro tour!
