The Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) will hold two big tennis events at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in November with the all-out support of sponsors.

Over 500 promising netters around the world are expected to compete in the two major events backed by Phinma group of companies, ICTSI, Smart, HEAD (official ball), Viva Mineral Water, Powerade Energy Drink, Chris Sports, and the Philippine Sports Commission, ITF and Philta.

Oscar Hilado, Phinma chairman and one of the long-time chief supporters of the sport, said the two major tennis competitions will serve as breeding ground of future tennis stars.

“We have a lot of young talented players who have the potential to excel globally and we’re so excited to see them play,” said Hilado. “I expect some Filipino-foreign players to compete in these two elite tournaments.”

The big tournament is the Phinma International Junior Tennis Championship Week 1, with qualifying Nov. 20-21 and main draw Nov. 22-27. Week 2 is Nov. 27-28 (qualifying) and Nov. 29-Dec. 4 (main draw).

Mendoza and all 3 junior girls advanced to the quarters. Malaki talaga nagagawa ng International exposure sa improvement ng isang player.

Results:

Mendoza lost to Yu 4-6;7-5;6-1 (medyo nagchoke si Jurence... he was up 6-4;5-4 30-0 on his serve medyo nawalan ng focus. Also, his serve was not working unlike yesterday)

Capadocia lost to Silva 5-7;2-6 ( too many errors...although Capadocia is probably the smartest and most complete player among our junior girls today)

Nguyen lost to Kobayashi 2-6;3-6 (medyo mabagal not her best day today... was completely outplayed)

Tanpoco beat Ohta 6-3;6-2 (dominated her oponent from the baseline, has a good shot on winning this tournament...yung on court temperament lang medyo dapat i-keep in check)

Doubles results:

Mendoza and partner; Capadocia and partner advanced to the finals.

This year's tournament has a very tough field most of the players are playing well above their rankings.

Results today:

Tanpoco lost to Rubels 4-6;0-6 (nawalan ng gana lalo na sa 2nd set... junior player mentallity pa talaga)

Doubles Finals:

Mendoza and partner won 7-5;6-0
Capadocia and partner lost 1-6;4-6 (nagkalat sobra yung partner niya)

Qualifying started today, one notable winner is 13 year old Eric Olivarez who defeated top seed Sean Lee of Singapore. Sean Lee, an experienced junior player with a ranking of 882 is also a member of the Singapore Davis Cup Men's (Seniors) team (playing the No. 2 singles position).

It will be Patrimonio versus Rubels in the finals! Kaya lang umuulan.

Last junior tournament na to ni Clarice... I hope she tries Women's tour next year malaki na improvement the game niya medyo nagmature na, may consistency na siya ngayon!
