Imitation is flattering, emulation is gratifying

« on: March 19, 2011, 10:18:52 PM »

I bought a HEAD Ti5000. the first defect i saw was that it had 18*20 string pattern..but on the HEAD website declared it as 16*19. so ok, i can get past that. but now i have a really broken racket. the buttcap was removed because the staples used to attach the buttcap to the wood actually chipped off and damaged the wood. i tried to repair it once by using adhesives like rugby and mighty bond. my little first aid lasted for about a month (once a week only use of racket).

so now the buttcap gave out again and to add to my dismay, the handle had markings indicating that it had a 4 3/8 size but the buttcap had a 4 1/2 size on it... no wonder the buttcap would become wobbly over time. i feel so cheated out of my money and to make matters worst...CHRIS SPORTS cant repair such damage anymore. my friend has a PRINCE ACE Ti which was older than my HEAD Ti5000 but it performs better than my racket.

sorry for ranting but i think racket makers and retailers should avoid malpractices such as this. it feels like cheating the customers. so, newbies watch out you might be victimized next.

You didn't mention where you bought this so I'm thinking you got duped by the person you bought this from.

bought if from CHRIS sports. hnd ko na binalik kasi nung una misprint lang naman eh. pero i did try to call them and nirefer nila ako sa provider nila ng rackets.. ung dynamic sports ata un. ok naman kasi xa for game usage eh until masira nga xa (a year after warranty coverage). ngaun ngaun ko lang naman nalaman na may discrepancies sa buttcap ko at ung racket handle size eh. im ranting because i only had it for a year or so, it cost me 2.5K, tpos ung prince ace ti ng tropa ko mas luma at mas mura tapos mas matibay waaaahhh kakaloka heeheh.

eto na lang po cguro mas mganda pagusapan, is there a way for customers like me to know kung ok ung binibili namin? anu nga bang material ang nasa handle ng raketa? (mukha kasing palo china daw ata un akin kaya daw nagkaganun).

Dynamic sports is the official distributor of Head rackets and I don't think that they will sell you an imitation.  Head is really made in china the only question is if it is authentic, and if you bought it in Chris Sports and was supplied by Dynamic it's most probably authentic, baka bad batch lang nakuha mo.  Anyway you should still try to complain to dynamic malay mo they might still accommodate you even if it's past warranty already.  No harm in trying

I agree. Chris Sports together with Dynamic is the Official carrier of Head in the Philippines and has been a good sponsor in some of our activities. Ms Tang even graced our Anniversary Celebration.

Try to get in touch with them and present your complaints, who knows they might still do something about it. If not, other buyers will glean from your experience and learn from it. Goodluck

Ti.5000 is an SMU (special make-up) racket, i.e., rackets specifically made to fill usually an inexpensive price point. Unfortunately, the quality control for SMU rackets are not as stringent as the standard lines. This racket should have an 18x19 string pattern.
