try to experiment. check which stroke he can drive with power. then ... dont give him balls to that side. throw in different types of balls. see where he is uncomfortable with, then produce more of those shots! good luck sa games mo!

Just to add to what bro ruud is saying, then mix it up. Try to keep your opponent guessing. Don't always give him the shot that you found to be his weakness or else he'll get a groove on it. Use it for the majority of the game but be creative and set it up properly.

Right! there might be times that the shots arent just working for him and he only needs to get warmed up. If he hits more powerful shots, try to return them. See how long he can keep up with those shots. He might tire earlier than you expect.

Well, its easy said than done. Just practice and keep on practicing, remember what's most we've heard, Practice Makes Perfect... My opinion, it depends what you are practicing. Practice Makes Permanent. As what Chris Evert said,"Does Practice Makes Perfect?, She answered, NO, BUT IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE" I hope you've got my point

actually my opponent hits with very heavy top spin, when it bounces on the ground the reaction of the spin is very effective, the ball travels much faster... tapos nun na ooff balance na ako...

You need to learn how to hit on-the-rise. You have to practice hitting the ball before it reaches the peak of its high bounce. Good timing ang kelangan dito. I suggest you get a hitting partner who could do this kind of shot.

Okay Clyde, No offense , just master your basics or all the fundamentals of tennis, and practice it as much as possible, who knows you can discover what really fits for you then upgrade it or improvise it, and try it with diffrent opponents for experience, and the most important is "You Must Understand The True Nature Of Tennis", by that time baka ranking ka na

clyde,
just enjoy the game and remember... never give your opponent a sitter or an easy shot that you may not be able to return. make your opponent run in returning his shots. 'ika nga patakbuhin mo siya & let him earn his points, iwas sa benta, double faults & unforced errors...

Neutralizing powerful shots depends on the type of strokes your opponent used, it can be a powerful flat, underspin, topspin or side spin. Those are the things you have to understand first. Here are some steps that might help answer your question. 1. Read the shot you made toward your opponent 2. Look at his body language (form, execution) to see how is he going to hit the ball back 3. Anticipate a kind of shot that he will be making according to his body language 4. Read the flight of the ball and quickly get to your hitting zone 5. Hit a shot with 100% commitment whether it is at your comfort zone or not Cheers! Kowch Bobby HATS Tutorial Services 4967112; 09217239564; 09228723956 ardel_armillo@yahoo.com.ph

Iam not good enough and not worthy to give advices. But for me, it will be hard to give a specific advice on how to neutralize a shot. One feels the ball is hard possibly on the level difference between the two players playing. No matter how hard your opponent hits the ball, if you are with the same level or even better than your opponent, you'll be able to hit back. Everything you learned will come into place, the anticipation and preparation.
Experience cannot be thought, it should be learned.

can you give advice on how to neutralize a powerful shot from your opponent??
Pahabol...di pa ata to nabanggit... For an incoming powerful shot, 1) catch it on the rise (mentioned already), and 2) minimal backswing.

Try to change the pace of the ball can help. Usually for powerful players they love balls with great pace. Slowing the pace of the ball will force them to produce the pace from their own racket and sometimes they tend to be outbalanced, over hit the ball and ended up committing an error. It also depends on confidence. If you think you can hit more powerful strokes than your opponent then try to match him power for power. But if you think you can't then you need to outsmart them.
