RP Cupper in doubles final
By KRISTEL SATUMBAGA

Fil-American netter Treat Huey and British Dominic Inglot continued their giant-killing run as they stunned the top-seeded duo of Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski of Great Britain, 7-6, (4), 7-6 (5), to advance to the finals of the $50,000 Levene, Goulding & Thomson Tennis Challenger in Binghamton, New York.

Schoolmates at the University of Virginia, Huey and Inglot played brilliantly at the end to frustrate their fancied rivals time and again and earn the right to face third pick Scott Lipsky and David Martin of the United States.

The American tandem had an easy ride to the finals as they won by default over second seed Carsten Ball and Chris Guccione of Australia .

For advancing to the finals, the 24-year-old Huey and his partner already assured themselves of 48 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranking points apiece and $1,800 (around P83,000) cash purse.

If they succeeded in disposing of the American pair, they weill pocket 80 ranking points each and $3,100 (around P166,000) prize.

Huey, who is preparing for the coming Davis Cup tie against South Korea and the Guangzhou Asian Games, did not compete in the singles to concentrate on his doubles game.

Huey and Inglot are fresh from a runner-up finish at the Vancouver Challenger in Canada last week.

Prior to their semis victory, Huey and Inglot shocked fourth pick Adam Hubble of Australia and Harsh Mankad of India, 6-4, 7-6 (6), and Davis Cuppers Kei Nishikori and Go Soeda of Japan, 6-3, 4-6, 10-3, in the opening round.

Huey and Inglot are already familiar with Lispky after beating the American and his partner Lester Cook in the Vancouver Challenger quarterfinals, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6.
