French Open to be broadcast in 3D across Europe

TOKYO – Next month's French Open tennis tournament
will be broadcast live in high-definition 3D, Japanese electronics giant and tournament partner Panasonic said Thursday.

"For the first time, people across Europe will be able to experience the tournament in 3D," Panasonic said in a statement, adding that the coverage will recreate on TV "the immersive experience of being court-side".

All matches on the centre court at Roland Garros will be broadcast live in high-definition 3D, it said.

The 3D coverage will be broadcast live "to Orange subscribers throughout France on a dedicated Orange TV channel," it said.

Elsewhere in Europe, Eurosport
will receive the Orange 3D live signal and deliver 3D coverage of the event via satellite to more than 3,000 retail stores in up to 58 European territories, it said.

Excluding France, the broadcast will be available in Europe only in selected retail stores and not on domestic TV sets, Panasonic spokeswoman Kyoko Ishii said.

Panasonic hopes to use the project to help market its 50-inch 3D television sets to be released later this month in Europe, she said.

ok sana yun, kaya lang dito satin hindi pa masyado accesible digital channels puros analog pa digibox pa daw hindi naman totoong digital hahha sayang lang mga plasma and lcd tv dito satin hehe.

pero 3d tennis tapos may closeup sana parang mapapalo mo na yung tennis ball hahha!! Tongue

pwede kaya dito yung 3d capabilities ng pc if you watch it from a pc tv tuner?
