Djokovic and Murray works harder by playing more tournaments than these guys pero again Fed is compared against Nadal. Smiley So this is between Federer and Nadal.

I am not sure what's your basis kaya di ko makita ang point mo but here's what I got for 2008 (the same year which you specifically picked).

Di ko na titingnan ang 2009 dahil sinabi mo hindi na kasama bago mag-reason-out si Nadal na injured siya after his French Open beating.

This list includes ATP sanctioned tournaments and excludes exhibition matches and Davis Cup appearances of both players.

Mukhang pareho lang ang number of tournaments. Mas nilaro nga lang ni Fed ang mga Major Tournaments where Nadal played more minor tournaments and skipped the year end championship in China (Tennis Masters Cup), which he did several times kaya kinailangan maghanap ng alternate. Go figure!

I think Nadal is also following Federer's footstep in reducing playing schedule.

Toni Nadal says Rafa will reduce playing schedule
Ticker - Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Toni Nadal, Rafael Nadal’s coach and uncle, tells Reuters that the former world No. 1 will no longer play an overly taxing schedule. After winning a record sixth consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title earlier this month, Nadal pulled out of last week's Barcelona Open, a tournament he’d won five straight times, in order to rest for Rome this week.

“I suppose we'll play a little less,” Toni Nadal said. “[The decision to skip Barcelona] was also related to the need to prepare for the upcoming season, which is hard, and avoid having problems with Wimbledon and Roland Garros. The important thing for Rafa is not the ranking, but to be in good shape for every tournament he takes part in, to know that he has the chance to win the tournaments he takes part in. Naturally, if on top of this, he has a good ranking, so much the better.”—M.C.

No problem!

Prior to Nadal's injury last year, we strongly believe that with the way how he hits the ball (specially his forehand swing where his follow-thru goes around his head) and the way he runs unreturnable drives, di tatagal magre-retire agad due to injury. Also, to sum up hectic schedules, sigurado bugbog katawan nila..

Top players will evaluate upcoming tournaments if they want to play for ranking points or match plays 9prior to slam events). Syempre, if they're winning, cash prizes + prestige comes along the way with their names on the trophy.

sarap nga buhay nila! lalaro lang cla at malaki pa kita (ng mga magagaling lang huh!)

Maganda ang nilalaro ni Verdasco. Last week tinalo niya straight sets si Djokovic.
This time, nag-improve si Djokovic. Umabot sa 3rd set. Smiley
Verdasco will be tested again tomorrow against Ferrer.

Pag natalo si Gulbis sa QF, it will be an all-spanish semis.
But it looks like Gulbis won't let that happen. He gets the first set.
We'll see.

Muy pobrecito Ferrer, he tried just about everything but to no avail... Nadal would have to sustain another injury before anyone could beat him in clay (although Gulbis got very close)....

With the win in Madrid Open, balik number #2 si Nadal
History nanaman yung kay Nadal, 3 ATP Masters 1000 in a row and then recorded his 18th Masters 1000 surpassing the record
of Agassi's 17 Masters.

As for Gulbis....hehehehe  Grin Grin Grin
He still made a good run in the Madrid Open.
He defeated 3  2010 ATP "250" champions along the way
1st  round - Feliciano Lopez,  Champion of Johannesburg 2010 Open
2nd round - Albert Montanes,  Champion of Estoril 2010 Open, who defeated Federer on the semis of this event.
3rd round - Mikhail Youzhny,  Champion of Munich 2010 Open
and had taken federer in 3 sets but eventually lost again.

Talo si ROGER, ang lupit ng FOREHAND ni SODERLING...

ROGER broke his 23 semi final appearances.
ROGER loses no 1., and now NADAL will regain it.
ROGER now on a 12-1 meeting with SODERLING.

And lets us see kung magtatagpo si SODERLING at NADAL in finals.

With how SODERLING beat FEDERER this day and NADAL last year,

malaki pagasa nya k NADAL even NADAL has 3 consecutive major

tournaments. Grabe mga pre SUMASABOG UNG FOREHAND NI SODERLING.

I was not able to finish the match. after ng rain delay e natulog na ako. It was 5 all in the 3rd set  federer serving nung nagkaroon ng rain delay. He was broken pala in that game. Ganda ng nilaro ni Soderling talaga. Yung first set was dominated by federer. But after federer lost his first service game in the second set, soderling gained confidence and played spectacular tennis. i was not able to see the 4th set sa first 3 sets di lang crosscourt pero pati mga down the line shots nya e effective.

Soderling ends Federer's semifinal streak at French
AP - Tuesday, June 1, 2010

PARIS (AP)—There will be a Grand Slam semifinal without Roger Federer for the first time in six years.French Open upset specialist Robin Soderling struck again Tuesday, rallying past defending champion Federer in a rainy quarterfinal, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. That ended Federer’s record streak of reaching the semifinals in 23 consecutive major events. The shocker was the second pulled off by Soderling in as many years at Roland Garros. He ended the reign of four-time champion Rafael Nadal in the fourth round a year ago, clearing the path for Federer to win his first French Open title and complete a career Grand Slam.

Federer beat Soderling in last year’s final. Before Tuesday, Federer was 12-0 against the big-swinging Swede, winning 28 of their 30 sets. But Soderling’s recent improvement was evident as he controlled rallies from the baseline with his thunderous strokes. Federer found himself on the defensive and unable to move forward.Seeded fifth, Soderling saved a set point in the third when he won a frantic rally, then won the set to take the lead for good shortly after a rain delay of 75 minutes.

“It cannot be much better,” Soderling told the crowd after his latest center-court stunner. “It’s great to play on this court. It’s for sure my favorite Grand Slam.”Soderling’s the only player other than Nadal to beat Federer at Roland Garros since 2004. The Swede’s opponent Friday will be No. 15 seed Tomas Berdych, who beat No. 11 Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-1, 6-2. Berdych has yet to drop a set in five rounds. The semifinal round Friday without Federer will be the first at a Grand Slam tournament since he lost in the third round of the 2004 French Open.

Because of Federer’s defeat, Nadal will reclaim the No. 1 ranking next week if he wins the title. The upset raises the possibility of a Nadal-Soderling rematch in the final. It was a cold, damp afternoon, with occasional rain that had some spectators watching from under umbrellas, but the conditions didn’t seem to rob Soderling’s shots of any sting. He hit winners past Federer even standing two strides behind the baseline.

“The balls got heavy, but I’ve played good matches in these kind of conditions in the past,” Soderling said. “It suits my game.”The upset was all the more surprising because Federer was in control early. He won 22 of his first 24 service points and led 30-love in his first service game of the second set when he suddenly faltered, losing four points in a row.A backhand wide by Federer gave Soderling his first break, and he held serve the entire set to even the match. It was the first set Federer had dropped in the tournament.

“He had some chances in the second set,” Soderling said. “When I won the second set, which was very big for me, I really felt I could relax a little bit. After that I started to play better and better.”Soderling made a narrow escape to extend the third set serving at 4-5. Trailing love-30, he hit a forehand that was called wide, but the umpire climbed off his chair, checked the mark and ruled the shot a winner. Instead of love-40 and triple set point for Federer, the score was 15-30.

Then, at 30-40, Soderling erased the set point in a wild exchange. He charged forward and hit a slam that Federer scrambled to chase down near the backstop, stretching to whip it back, and Soderling leaped to put away an over-the-shoulder backhand volley. The crowd roared with delight. Federer looked very unhappy.Soderling then whacked back-to-back service winners of 139 and 138 mph to hold for 5-all. It was the second consecutive service game he won after trailing love-30.

Rain prompted a delay in the middle of the next game. At that juncture, Federer led by one point after 167 had been played. The match resumed on a drab evening in a half-empty stadium, and the remaining fans were firmly in Federer’s corner. But he promptly lost his serve, double-faulting before Soderling whacked a forehand winner for the break. When Soderling hit an ace to seal the set, Federer waved his arms as though helpless.

In the final set, Federer broke for a 2-love lead but immediately lost serve. He saved three break points and held for 4-3, but there was no escape two games later, when he committed four unforced errors and was broken.Match point came five points later, and Soderling hit a second serve that Federer couldn’t put in play. The Swede walked to the net with his fist up, then pumped it to punctuate the breakthrough against his nemesis—and everyone else’s nemesis.

“This is a big win, but it’s not the final,” he said. “I don’t want to celebrate too much. I want to focus on the next game.”Soderling improved to 5-18 against players ranked in the top three. His only other major semifinal berth was at Roland Garros a year ago.

Oo suddenly magugulat ka 3rd set pala k SODERLING. Parang nawala ung focus ni ROGER

sa rain delay eh. Medyo bumalik rhythm nya in 4th pero no mercy si SODERLING eh.

NADAL BATTLES PAST ALMAGRO INTO SFS; KEEPS ALIVE NO. 1 DREAM

Four-time former champion Rafael Nadal came through his toughest test so far at Roland Garros on Wednesday, winning his seventh straight match against fellow Spaniard and No. 19 seed Nicolas Almagro with a 7-6(2), 7-6(3), 6-4 victory to extend his perfect 2010 clay-court record to 20-0. Nadal, who celebrates his 24th birthday on Thursday, hit four aces and 34 winners for victory in two hours and 33 minutes. He won 12 of 16 points on approach to the net and converted two of six break point opportunities.

"It was a difficult match, especially from a mental standpoint," said Nadal. "I had to return well, and I had the feeling that I was not capable of playing the way I wanted because he was so powerful.... When I really needed to play my best tennis, I had the opportunity of doing that. So I'm very happy I played this match in three sets, because it was very difficult."

If the Spaniard goes on to capture his fifth title in the French capital on Sunday, he will regain No. 1 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings for the first time since June 2009. Nadal's rival Roger Federer, the defending champion, lost to No. 5 seed Robin Soderling on Tuesday evening.

Almagro kept fighting in the pair's fifth clay-court meeting, but at the business end of the third set, Nadal set up three break point opportunities. At 4-4, 0/40, Almagro hit his second successive backhand wide to gift Nadal the break. Nadal wrapped up his 36th win in 37 matches at Roland Garros when Almagro hit a backhand wide on his second match point opportunity. It was his 21st straight victory against a fellow Spaniard (67-10 lifetime).

"During the third [set] I wanted to be more offensive because so far it was good for me," said Almagro. "Then I made mistakes, so much so, that these were the three bad points I played. That's how I lost the match, I think."Nadal improved to a 36-4 match record on the season. The Mallorcan is attempting to become the first player to complete the "clay slam". He has already lifted three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophies at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (d. Verdasco), the Internazionali BNL d'Italia (d. Ferrer) and the Mutua Madrileńa Madrid Open (d. Federer) in the past couple of months.

Almagro, who converted one of two break point opportunities and committed 44 unforced errors, lost his 17th consecutive match against Top 5 opposition (1-18 lifetime). The World No. 21 dropped to a 28-14 season mark."I wanted to finish being proud of what I did, even though I might be defeated, which is what happened," said Almagro. "I played the match I had to play. I had the right attitude throughout the match. I wanted to win; yet I couldn't. But in any case, the most important thing is that the tournament will continue. I'm on the right track."

Nadal will next challenge Austrian No. 22 seed Jurgen Melzer, who came back from a 0-2 sets deficit for the first time in his career with a 3-6, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(3), 6-4 win over third-seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic.

"I saw him in the end of the match playing very aggressive, serving well," said Nadal. "So will be very difficult opponent. If he's in semi-finals, is because he's the best of his draw."

With the way Almagro played against NADAL, he could be the next top 10 players

of SPAIN (after VDERDASCO and FERRER), next to NADAL!

Unfortunately, Djokovic is also out of the tournament.

I know, Francis, I thought he had it in the bag when he won the first 2 sets. Very disappointing. It reminds me of his match against Tsonga in the recent Australian Open where he ran out of steam and lost in 5 sets.

He should change his name to Chokeovic!  Cheesy

NADAL RECLAIMS NO. 1 RANKING WITH FIFTH ROLAND GARROS TITLE

Paris, France
by ATP Staff
06.06.2010

In a remarkable Sunday for Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard won his fifth Roland Garros title, returned to No. 1 in the South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings and became the first player to qualify for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, after defeating Robin Soderling 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in the final in Paris.

At the age of 24 years and four days, Nadal became just the second man in history to win five or more Roland Garros titles. Bjorn Borg finished his esteemed career with six titles on the Parisian clay. The Spaniard will subsequently return to the No. 1 spot in the South African Airways ATP Rankings for the first time since 22 June, 2009.

DEUCE: The Rafa Renaissance

Victory for Nadal secured his seventh major title. Together with his five victories at Roland Garros in 2005-2008 and 2010, the left-hander also lifted the Wimbledon trophy in a dramatic finale in 2008 and won the Australian Open last year.

The only part of the match that I enjoyed watching was when they showed a video clip of the 2007 Wimbledon match between Soderling and Nadal, with Soderling imitating Nadal's habit of pulling his underwear from the back  Grin I thought that was hilarious!

So sorry for Soderling, he gave his very best but Nadal was just too good on clay. The most disappointing for Soderling was having 8 break chances and not converting any single one of them, that must really hurt.

Oh well, the best player won and there was no doubt he deserved the title.

AEGON CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lopez Ends Nadal's Winning Streak

Feliciano Lopez ended Rafael Nadal's 24-match winning streak on Friday at the AEGON Championships.

Eighth seed Lopez beat his top-seeded Spanish compatriot 7-6(5), 6-4 in one hour and 52 minutes for a place in the semi-finals at The Queen’s Club, venue of the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tennis tournament.

AEGON INTERNATIONAL
LLODRA CAPTURES SECOND GRASS TITLE
Eastbourne, Great Britian
by ATP Staff
 |
19.06.2010
Michael Llodra won his fifth ATP World Tour title. World No. 46 Michael Llodra captured his second ATP World Tour grass-court title on Saturday as he lifted the trophy at the AEGON International with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over fifth seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

As winner of the ATP World Tour 250 tennis tournament, Llodra received 250 South African Airways 2010 ATP Ranking points and €69,350, while runner-up Garcia-Lopez earned 150 points and €36,550 in prize money.

The 30-year-old Llodra won his first ATP World Tour title on the mowed lawns at ‘s-Hertogenbosch six years ago (d. Coria) and has since added to his tally with triumphs in Adelaide and Rotterdam in 2008 and victory on home soil at the Open 13 in Marseille (d. Benneteau) earlier this season.

In a tight first set, the Frenchman claimed the only service break in the 12th game to seal a one-set lead. Rain halted play in the third game of the second set, but players were not off court for long and Llodra returned with renewed purpose, breaking serve in the sixth game as Garcia-Lopez committed his third double fault. The Parisian then clinched victory with a third break of serve in the eighth game after 67 minutes.

"It's always a pleasure to win a title,” said Llodra. “It doesn't happen every week so you have to enjoy it when it happens. It's been a great week and I felt good from the beginning. I know I can play well on grass but you still have to do the job out there on the court. 6-5 in the first set was a great time to break. I knew if I stayed focussed I would get my chances and at 6-5 it came my way. Then it helped to serve first in the second set.

”The left-hander improved to a 16-11 match record on the season, also highlighted by a quarter-final showing on grass at The Queen’s Club (l. to Fish) last week. He will open his campaign at The Championships, Wimbledon next week against American Jesse Witten, with a possible second-round clash against 2009 runner-up Andy Roddick.

The No. 41-ranked Garcia-Lopez was contesting his first ATP World Tour grass-court final and dropped to a 1-1 overall record. He won his maiden title in Kitzbuhel (d. Benneteau) in May last year. The Albacete native was bidding to become the seventh different Spaniard to win an ATP World Tour title this season.

“Of course it's disappointing to lose today,” said Garcia-Lopez. “Whenever you get to a final you want to win the title, but the positive is that I have had a really good week and got a lot of matches. Last year I got to the semi-finals here, this year the final. I really enjoy this tournament and look forward to coming back next year."

Nadal beats Berdych for second Wimbledon title
AP - Sunday, July 4, 2010

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)—Rafael Nadal swept Tomas Berdych in straight sets Sunday to win his second Wimbledon title and eighth Grand Slam championship.
The top-ranked Spaniard beat the 12th-seeded Czech 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 in 2 hours, 13 minutes to reinforce his current status as the No. 1 player in the game
Nadal broke Berdych four times and never lost serve in 15 service games, extending his record to 5-0 in his last five Grand Slam finals.

It’s the second time Nadal has won the French Open and Wimbledon back-to-back, making the tough transition from clay to grass. With eight Grand Slam titles, Nadal joins a list of greats that includes Andre Agassi, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, Fred Perry and Ken Rosewall. He also has five French Open championships and one Australian Open title.

After ripping a crosscourt forehand passing shot on match point, Nadal collapsed on his back on the turf at the baseline and covered his face with his hands. After congratulating Berdych, Nadal leaped out of his chair and did a front somersault on the grass, rising to his feet with both fists clenched.

Nadal won his first Wimbledon title in 2008, beating Roger Federer in an epic five-set final after losing to the Swiss star in the previous two finals. But Nadal was unable to defend his crown last year because of tendinitis in his knees, watching on television at home as Federer took advantage of the Spaniard’s absence to win his sixth Wimbledon.

“It was probably one of the toughest moments in my career,” Nadal said after accepting the winner’s trophy Sunday from the Duke of Kent. “A win here was always my dream. I did it two years ago.”Nadal has now won 14 straight matches at the All England Club and “defended” the title he won in his last appearance here two years ago.

“It was amazing for me after a difficult year last year that I can be here,” he said.
Nadal posed with the trophy in the clubhouse next to the green board with his name already etched as the 2010 winner. He cradled the trophy under his left arm as he signed autographs outside the members’ entrance, where hundreds of fans gathered to see him.Nadal is the first Spanish man to win Wimbledon twice. Manolo Santana took the title in 1966.

“For the Spanish players for the last 40 years it was very difficult to play here,” Nadal said. “We are doing better right now. We are very satisfied for that.”
Nadal beat Berdych for the seventh straight time, a span covering 17 consecutive sets.

Berdych was playing in his first Grand Slam final and was the first Czech to reach the Wimbledon final since Ivan Lendl in 1987. He had beaten top-seeded Federer and No. 3 Novak Djokovic en route to the final, but couldn’t find a way to take out the second-seeded Nadal as well.

“It was a great two weeks for me,” Berdych said. “He was really strong today. He’s showing in the last few months that he’s really the champion and he just deserves to win today.”In a match short on drama and spectacular points, played in windy
conditions, Nadal capitalized on a few weak service games by Berdych to seize control.

It was typical grass-court Wimbledon tennis, with play dominated by serves and only a few break points here and there making the difference. Nadal lost only 24 points on serve.

Nadal played his usual grinding baseline game featuring whippet forehands. Yet it wasn’t a vintage performance from Nadal, who had 21 unforced errors compared to 17 for Berdych. Nadal had 29 winners, two more than the Czech. But Nadal won all the big points against the 24-year-old Czech, who was playing in his first Grand Slam final and failed to convert any of his four break points.
Nadal broke twice in the first set, dropping only four points in his own four service games. Nadal won five games in a row from 3-2 down in the first set to go up 1-0 in the second.

Berdych’s chances may have evaporated in the first game of the second set, when he failed to convert on three break points. In a game that lasted about 10 minutes, Nadal overcame two double faults and four forehand errors.Berdych will rue his chance on the second break point, when Nadal hit a relatively weak approach shot and the Czech had plenty of time to line up a forehand passing shot but slapped the ball into the net.

Nadal broke Berdych at love in the 12th game to go up two sets to love. Nadal saved another break point at 1-1 in the third set, then broke Berdych again in the last game to close out the match.
