Serena Williams did it!!! Justine Henin fell short of her dream to be a Champion in this year's Australian Open 2010. Anyway, this is only the 2nd tournament she joined
after a long lay-off. Despite this, KUDOS to Henin!!! It's not bad for being runner-up for the first two tournaments. Let's hope she can fulfill her dream on the next tournaments she'll join. Justine, "There's nothing impossible if you make it possible"

Indian Wells, California - Former No. 1 and seven-time major champion Justine Henin has been granted a wild card for the 2010 BNP Paribas Open, the most attended tennis tournament in the world outside of the four major events, to be held March 8-21,2010 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, it was announced by Steve Simon, tournament director.

Henin, who won the BNP Paribas Open in 2004, joins a host of former champions in the field including World No. 1 Roger Federer (2004-2006), three-time major champion Maria Sharapova (2006), defending men's champion Rafael Nadal (2007 & 2009), defending U.S. champion Kim Clijsters (2003 & 2005), Serbian stars Novak Djokovic (2008) and Ana Ivanovic (2008), defending women's champion Vera Zvonareva and Daniela Hantuchova (2002 & 2007). This will be her first trip to Indian Wells since 2006.

The Belgian star recently returned to the Sony Ericsson WTA tour after retiring from the sport in May of 2008. She came back with a flourish and as unranked wild card reached the finals of her first event in Brisbane and the finals of the Australian Open.

"I am very happy that the BNP Paribas Open has granted me a wild card, and I look forward to returning to Indian Wells," she said. I am excited to be back on Tour, and hope to continue the success I have had thus far in 2010. The fan support has been incredible, and I hope that I am able to claim my first title of the season at the BNP Paribas Open this March.

Miami, Florida- Belgian Justine Henin advanced to the fourth round of the Sony Ericsson Open with a 6-4 , 6-4 win over No. 26 Dominika Cibulkova. She earlier beat Elena Dementieva of Russia in the third round. Henin, who stepped out of retirement this year and reached the Australian Open in January, dropped serve four times but claimed six breaks of her own during the 1 hr., 33 minutes match. She rallied from behind in both sets to win.

"It was the first time I've played against her. It's never easy to play someone you don't know, Henin said. "But I was glad about my reaction in both sets to come back. And especially after a good win two days ago, it wasn't that easy today, but I'm glad I'm in the last 16".

Playing her fourth tournament of the year, Henin improved to a 14-4 record of the season and next faces the winner between Italian Sara Errani and 11th seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva.

K. Clijsters needing a four match points in a dramatic third set tie break to clinch a 6-2,6-7(3),7-6(6) win over J. Henin to advance to the finals vs. V. Williams in the Sony Ericsson Open. Clisters-Henin is a close and interesting match just like in the Brisbane International Open last January where Clijsters also won their match.

PARIS (AP)—Four-time champion Justine Henin advanced to the fourth round of the French Open by outslugging Maria Sharapova 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on Sunday.
The two former No. 1s played the seesaw final set after the match was suspended late Saturday because of darkness. The pivotal moment came when Henin fell behind 0-2, love-40, then overcame four break points to hold. She soon led 4-2, broke to go ahead 5-3 and served out the victory.

“I kept my chances to win this tournament,” said the four-time champion, playing at Roland Garros for the first time since 2007. “I will give my best and enjoy it. It was a really good test.”

The victory extended Henin’s winning streak at Roland Garros to 24 matches. It was the first meeting between the two rivals since Henin spent 20 months in retirement before mounting a career comeback this year.

Henin next plays No. 7 Samantha Stosur.

I saw the continuation of the sharapova-henin match yesterday. Sharapova had an early advantage and I thought henin would lose the match. Henin was behind 0-2, 0-40, on the last set, Henin serving. Sharapova was putting a lot of pressure on the Henin serve as she was whacking Henin's second serve. But Henin managed to hold serve and was on the scoreboard 1-2, 3rd set. At that point, Henin gained momentum breaking sharapova on her next 2 service games and leads 4-2. Sharapova breaks Henin's serve on the 7th game and was back on serve at 3-4 only to be broken again 3-5 then Henin served for the match eventually winning the set and the match 62, 3-6, 6-3.

Rodriguez plays down Henin's chances at SW19
Ticker - Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Justine Henin's coach, Carlos Rodriguez, is playing down Henin's chances at Wimbledon this year.

"Justine is not a candidate for victory at Wimbledon," he told Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure. "She has a chance, but there are girls who have more claim to the title than her. I'd like to wrong, but she needs more time.

"After [she reached] those two finals in Australia, everyone saw her as the queen again, but I knew it would be more complicated. In Australia, she arrived fresh, without pressure and could count on the element of surprise. Today, that's not the case.

"The main objective is to finish the season without injuries, because there's a physical and mental fatigue that sets in."

Henin reach Den Bosch semis
AP - Thursday, June 17, 2010

DEN BOSCH, Netherlands (AP)—Justine Henin has reached the semifinals of the Unicef Open on Thursday without dropping a set in the Wimbledon warm-up tournament.
Henin defeated Kristina Barrois 7-5, 6-3 to set up a match with fifth-seeded Alexandra Dulgheru, who beat Yaroslava Shvedova 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The win boosted Henin’s grass-court career record to 48-11, including two Wimbledon finals. The seven-time Grand Slam winner has yet to win a Wimbledon title.

She won at Den Bosch in 2001, but hadn’t competed here since 2003. This was also her first tournament on grass in three years.

Petkovic, Henin to Meet in Final
'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, The Netherlands - Top seed Justine Henin and seventh-seeded Andrea Petkovic will meet in the final of the $220,000 UNICEF Open after winning very different semifinals on Friday.

Wildcard Henin was first through to the championship match courtesy of a 62 62 defeat of No.5 seed Alexandra Dulgheru. The Henin delivery was never broken during the match, and four of the 17 points she relinquished on serve were because of double faults.

"In today's match, I think my level was better than the last few days," said Henin, playing the first grass court event of her comeback. "My rhythm was better and I was feeling more comfortable on the grass. I now have one more chance to finish my preparation for Wimbledon in a positive way... it's good to have one more chance to get a win."

The second semi was far more complicated, with another Belgian, Kirsten Flipkens, playing just her second Sony Ericsson WTA Tour semi against Petkovic. Flipkens is a former junior Wimbledon champion with a game ideally suited to grass, and up a set and a break - having recovered an early 2-5 deficit - she seemed to be on course for a meeting with her illustrious countrywoman. But Petkovic - who, like Dulgheru, will make her main draw debut at Wimbledon next week - held her nerve when it mattered in the closely-fought contest. The German won all five break points she held against the Belgian to clinch a 67(3) 76(2) 64 win in over two-and-a-half hours.

"I'm disappointed to miss the chance to play Justine in my first Tour final, but I can't say too much to myself," Flipkens said. "Of course it's difficult to lose by this score, but Andrea played great tennis on the important points. I learned a lot, and have enough confidence to go off to Wimbledon."

Henin won this title way back in 2001, one of 42 Tour titles to her name. Petkovic is through to her second Tour final; the 22-year-old won the first, at Bad Gastein, last year. The finalists will be meeting for the first time.

Henin claims title Den Bosch

DEN BOSCH, Netherlands (AP)—Top-seeded Justine Henin beat No. 7 Andrea Petkovic 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to win the Unicef Open on Saturday and her first grass-court title in three years.

After trading the first two sets, Petkovic took the initiative by breaking her Belgian opponent in the second game of the last set before consolidating a comfortable 3-0 lead.

But Henin, who was using the tournament to prepare for Wimbledon and who had been given a wild card to enter, held serve and blasted a forehand winner on her way to breaking the German player in the fifth game.

Henin, who did not drop a set or face a tiebreak heading into Sunday’s final, then completed a stunning recovery by forcing another break in the ninth game.“Andrea gave me a lot of problems in the third set when I had to come back from 3-0 down,” said Henin, the 2001 champion at Den Bosch. “I kept fighting. I needed to win on the grass.”

Despite twice reaching the final, Henin is still looking for her first Wimbledon title. She resumed her career in January after 20 months in retirement.

Henin to miss U.S. Open with partial ligament tear
AP - Thursday, July 1, 2010

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)—Seven-time Grand Slam champion Justine Henin says she will miss this year’s U.S. Open after partially tearing a ligament in her right elbow during a fall at Wimbledon.

Henin said on her website Thursday that the injury will keep her off the tour for about two months.

She said she will miss the American hard-court circuit, including the U.S. Open, which she won in 2003 and 2007. The year’s last major tournament begins in New York on Aug. 30.

Henin took a tumble in the first set of her fourth-round loss to Kim Clijsters at Wimbledon on Monday.
