is it proven that dampeners really help?
curious lang. ever since kc skeptical ako dun.
is it just for aesthetic purposes? or does it really prevent muscle strains and watnot..

i noticed a pain in my right arm when im playing before. i started using a dampener a few months back and ever since the pain ceased out.  so am thinking if its just my mental..parang placebo effect lang kaya..

I agree with whizzard.  It does not help prevent muscle strains.  To avoid having this, make a complete follow through with your swing and just relax when you are playing.  Smiley

less vibration from the racket, less stress sa mga muscles mo... what dampeners do to a racket is lessen its vibration from the head to the handle.

Dampeners serve to tone down string vibrations, period.

When it comes to ball-racket impact, the main culprit here is impact shock, not string vibrations.  Dampeners may transform the sound of impact from a “ping” to a “thud” but it does nothing to prevent shock from propagating from the strings to the racket and ultimately to your arm.

While strings contribute some shock at impact, the majority of shock comes from the racket itself as it tries to resist the flexing and bending forces resulting from the impact.  If you look at racket technology of the past 10-15 years, notice that racket manufacturers have been addressing this issue of shock with innovative designs and manufacturing techniques, along with the use of exotic materials.  This is of even greater importance now that stiffer strings are in prevalent use.  How much shock the strings contribute depends upon the string.  Stiff strings like poly contribute more shock than softer strings like multifilaments.

It has been scientifically, medically and practically proven that there is no relationship between arm problems and dampeners.

Maganda tunog pag may dampeners. Akin nga gomang pang dampa lang ox na. parang may silencer na racket ko. hehe.
