Grin

tama ka  burosky. ingat lang sa salt. last thing we need. kaya may gatorade. kailangan ko nga maguwi para may mainom ako. yung init kaya ko. kaya lang ang humidity. grabe.
if i can sweat it out on the court, ok na. bawasan ang timbang ko.

to a certain extent tama ka fatso. but when you are playing in extreme heat, hindi kaya mag hold ang tubig lang. kaya may gatorade or powerade. kailangan ng katawan ang electrolytes to help keep the body heat down. try playing in 120 degree heat in the summertime with just water on your side. you won't last.

Just want to clarify that salt doesn't have or will not turn into water but rather works by holding water back in the body w/c means you excrete less water!

Some athletes are more prone to cramping than others, but a proper warm-up and cool-down (especially stretching), good fitness, adequate fluid intake and a nutritious diet may reduce the risk.

Last week while I was playing singles (4th set) on a hot and humid afternoon I was wrongfooted by my opponent and suddently felt cramps in my right calf.  I couldn't move my leg because of the excruciating pain. Just realized that my cutting down on carbs and salty foods (to lose weight from 155 lbs to below 150 lbs) was partly to blame for this injury. I had stretched and eaten a banana before the game, and was well hydrated during the match. The next day I still felt the pain but remarkably was able to play again.

Another thing that I found out from a guy  who saw me cringe in pain at the court and came to massage my leg (he said he is a sports therapist) is the shoes I was wearing was quite big for me. He was right, because I have a size 8.5 feet and was wearing a size 9 tennis shoes. According to him wearing oversize shoes contributes to cramping, and he advised me to either put an insole or wear thick socks, I did the latter  Cheesy

aside from cramping, wearing oversized shoes can also cause achilles heel injury with a sudden abrupt or change of pace.

dapat pa rin, drink small amount of water during breaks to replace lost water from body.

Good advice, Smiley. From now on I will never buy oversized shoes, especially since I'm a runner on the courts.

Did anyone see that match (I believe it was two years ago) when Nadal almost choked while playing because he was still chewing the banana he ate during the changeover? Katawa!

sa na observe ko recenttly, Gatorade works for me, not yung bottled na instant, yung powder na tinitimpla, instead na 1 cup for 1 quart, ginagawang 1.5cup for 1 quart! Grin

sometimes kasi, stretching and warm up naman ako, fluid intake, with bananas pa, then tamang sleep, foof, pero 2 games lang cramps na, as in most of the time left and right leg...pero pag  inom ako gatorade na tinitimpla, kahit 5 or 8 games, no cramps.....pagod lang di na makatakbo Grin

Ayos to ah.
sa na observe ko recenttly, Gatorade works for me, not yung bottled na instant, yung powder na tinitimpla, instead na 1 cup for 1 quart, ginagawang 1.5cup for 1 quart! Grin

sometimes kasi, stretching and warm up naman ako, fluid intake, with bananas pa, then tamang sleep, foof, pero 2 games lang cramps na, as in most of the time left and right leg...pero pag  inom ako gatorade na tinitimpla, kahit 5 or 8 games, no cramps.....pagod lang di na makatakbo Grin

I take Sportlegs (available in running/ triathlon stores)  Pwede rin salt tabs, if its a long training day under the sun.
