Tama.

Nice to see interest in the responses, BUT...

1.  When will tickets be available?
2.  What is the cost?  Are series tickets available?
3.  Will there be similar packages to those during PHI-JPN at Rizal last year?

Randy, SLP, anyone.... help?

maybe 2 weeks before the event, we can inquire at PCA regarding the tickets.  I hope there will be package tickets like last year.

From the site above, it is telling that ticket prices are P200/day. A 3-day ticket will cost P500.
A number is also provided for ticket information: Tel: +63 2 523 6415

I have not tried this number but that information is taken from the site as well.

Hope this helps.

About the start time pala na 1500 hrs, hindi kaya late na yan? Sa doubles siguro e okay lang ito. Pero sa 1st day singles matches at sa reverse singles baka gabihin naman masyado.

I'm just curious who is playing the second singles and doubles. We all know Nino is doing great on the ITF doubles junior circuit, but, Treat Huey is having also a impressive Men's Sattelites double results. Who is the coach and will they let a local such as PJ and Johnny play? Anyway, hopefully they win! Smiley

RP to parade same Davis Cup team vs Pakistan
07/06/2009 | 11:30 AM
(from gmanews.tv)

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Davis Cup team will remain intact when they face Pakistan in the Asia/Oceania Group II second round at the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) tennis courts slated July 10 to 12

Philippine Lawn Tennis Association (PHILTA) Davis Cup coordinator Randy Villanueva said Filipino-Americans Cecil Mamiit and Treat Conrad Huey, and homegrown bets Francis Casey Alcantara and Patrick John Tierro will lead the country’s hopes of earning a Group I spot.

The quartet was also the same team that beat Hong Kong in their home turf, 4-1, in the first round last March.

Villanueva said that Mamiit and Huey, instrumental in RP’s victory over Hong Kong, are already in the country in preparation for the Pakistan tie.

The winner will face either Indonesia or New Zealand on September in the promotional tie for a spot in Group I

Mamiit, 32, won three grueling matches (two singles and one doubles) to clinch the tie against Hong Kong.

The 23-year-old Huey, the newest recruit for the Philippine team, lost his first singles match as a Davis Cupper but teamed up with Mamiit in the doubles competition.

Alcantara, 17, is also expected to contribute after competing in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments and three Grand Slams including a doubles victory in the Australian Open junior tennis tournament.

Tierro, who got a Davis Cup slot during the Metro Open tennis championship last February, provides stability and veteran smarts to the team.

Pakistan, which is reportedly training in Kuala Lumpur in preparation for the match, will be fielding in Aisam Qureshi, Ageel Khan, Jalil Khan and Yasir Khan.

Qureshi and Ageel Khan helped the Pakistanis to a 4-1 win over Oman in their first round encounter. – GMANews.TV

Better to buy tickets in advance para makapili ng magandang pwesto may seat number kasi. I already bought season tickets from PHILTA last week (500 for the 3 day).

Tierro raring to face Pakistan anew

By Marjorie Gorospe

MANILA, Philippines – Although not as highly touted as his Davis Cup teammates, Patrick John Tierro is looking to excite local tennis fans as they try to hurdle bitter rival Pakistan.

The national Davis Cup squad faces Pakistan starting Friday in their Asia Oceania group tie. The winner will face either New Zealand or Indonesia to advance to Group 1.

Tiero, a native of Olongapo, is in his second time to represent the country in the prestigious David Cup, which also serves as a prelude to the Southeast Asian Games this December.

Joining Tierro in what officials described as one of the strongest national teams ever assembled are two-times SEA Games gold medalist Cecil Mamiit, doubles specialist and fellow Fil-Am Treat Conrad Huey and junior standout Francis Casey Alcantara.

Mamiit and Huey are both active in the United States circuit, while Alcantara competed in the Wimbledon juniors event late last month.

The team has been training in Malaysia in preparation for the showdown with Pakistan, which happens at the Philippine Columbian Association tennis courts in Paco, Manila.

Tierro, a varsity player for De La Salle University, has been part of the national team for six years now but looks forward to getting local fans cheering for them this time.

“We players mostly rely on the crowd and seeing them cheering for us make us fight until the end,” said Tiero, who started playing tennis when he was nine years old.

The 23 year-old is hoping more young people get into tennis. In Olongapo, he noted an academy that accepts kids who show interest in the sport.

Just like in basketball and boxing, he is hoping tennis will earn the same amount of support from Filipino fans, the Davis Cup an excellent opportunity to pique interest in the sport.

“It’s natural that when Filipino players win, they get the support of fans. That’s highly possible because we have a strong team right now,” said Tierro.

The Philippines crushed Pakistan, 4-1, the last time the two countries faced each other in 2007.
