Originally from Malabon ako. Lumipat kami sa Kapitolyo in the early 70's. I left Kapitolyo for California in '86. The last time I was there was 2001 for my mom's burial. Prior to that I came home for my mom in 2000 and was actually able to play some tennis with my brother-in-law. He arranged some sets with some actor friends of his. He used to be an actor himself. The only name I can remember playing with was Zoren Legaspi. From what I remember he is a pretty good player. We played somewhere at Tomas Morato. It was a converted warehouse with a bar in front and the surface I think was some kind of carpet. It was fun but I felt like I was going to die from heat stroke.
I haven't been back since. Hopefully, when both my kids are done with school the wife and I will come home for a vacation. She is pinay and plays tennis too. She is currently rated at 4.0 here. She's only been playing competitively for 7 years but she has already won 2 USTA national championships with her league team. They were 3.5 Adult Women's USTA League Champions in 2005 and 7.0 Mixed USTA League Champions in 2007. The best in the U.S. for those years. I'm pretty proud of her accomplishment since I taught her from scratch. We also are one of those rare husband and wife teams who play doubles for fun and competitively without having fights in or out of the courts.
