The 2 basic principles of immediate first aid are to protect the tennis player from further injury and to get him/her back into action as soon as safely possible.  To be sure this happens, every athlete must follow these basic principles:

*  Take your time
*  Use the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) formula to reduce swelling
*  Note how the injury happened
*  Use the right painkillers
*  Use first aid for common muscle injuries
